This year’s MVMS basketball teams were full of confidence and outstanding players. The boys’ team made it to the playoff games while the girls’ team was in the championship round.
Although they might have liked to advance even further, team members said they had come a long way and did their best to beat the toughest teams on the courts.
“I love the sport,” said sixth-grade player Kenyon . “I just wish I could play more.”
Their team won most of their games this season.
Liam, another member on the boys team, said coaches “Mondo” Peter McQuaid, and David Wong were excellent. All the players seemed to think that their coaches played them hard, which led the team into the rounds of playoffs in March.
Liam said he liked playing on the MVMS team.
"It's really good for me, it's really fun, and I know my position really well," he said.
Girls on the sixth-grade team liked it too. "I like basketball 'cause it's a challenge and it takes skills," said Candy, a point guard for the Panthers.
Another point guard, Chloe, also said she liked being on the MVMS team. "I like it when I make a shot and assist a basket," she said.
