Every school has new students. Hundreds of students are new to MVMS each year. Regardless of when they start, there are programs to make it easier.
Sixth graders are welcomed into the school by a select group of eighth graders Teacher Darby Doyle, who has been a part of W.E.B. for 6 years, says,“ The Web leaders take an active role in making sure that the 6th graders have a smooth and fun transition into middle school. The orientation day allows the sixth graders to get to know the Web leaders, the school environment, and new friends. The Web leaders continue to support the 6th graders throughout the year. It definitely helps to build community and helps the6th graders to feel a big part of MVMS.
School counselor Carolyn Hartigan says, “What you should try to do to make new students feel at home is to go up and just try to talk to them, which will make them like they aren’t so isolated and that people want to be their friend.”
