Pumpkin Prodigy Places First in Halloween Contest

This Halloween, sixth grader Lauren won the annual sixth-grade pumpkin competition.  There were many pumpkins from many different categories of prizes,  including a witch for scariest, and princess from most glamorous which placed first in their categories.        However, win she did. So far she has won best-of-show in at least five competitions at the Marin County Fair.
Lauren’s pumpkin was decorated as a porcupine named Porkie Pumpkin Puffer. It was the stand-out favorite of many students, but Lauren didn’t think it would win because she didn’t know about the grand-prize category.
However, she was more than happy to accept the Jamba Juice gift-certificate prize. She said she loved making the pumpkin, and would have been happy even if she had not won.
“I was so exited when I thought of the idea for the  pumpkin because I knew it would be a lot of fun to make it,” Lauren said.
Many people had loads of fun during the contests and most students think they should continue.
