Two friends, Hana and Shannon, walked through the school halls on Wednesday, October 31. Instead of wearing their usual attire, they wore white Fed Ex boxes, decorated with red Chinese building symbols and handles. Why were they wearing this?
When Shannon saw her mom dress as a Chinese takeout box for Halloween last year, she knew that was what she would be this year. Her friend, Hana agreed on the costume, and they decided to enter in MVMS’ costume contest for the best group.
Both of them love Chinese food (Hana recommends Fishman Village) which helped to create such a realistic costume. They added sequined straps to a box, then decorated it with Chinese symbols, and added handles. Their trick or treat bags looked like soy sauce packages, and they wore chopsticks in their hair.
When Shannon and Hana began school on Halloween, they believed that they had a good chance of winning. In their first class, Shannon was awarded most unique, and Hana best group. Then, at the final contest, they paraded in front of the gym, and won a Baskin Robbins certificate for the best group. Hana says, “We had a lot of fun creating our costume, and we wish good ideas to people next year.”
