Good Report Card for MVMS

On January 17, 2008 Principal Matt Huxley and Vice Principal Anna Lazzarini presented their second annual State of Mill Valley Middle School speech. The presentation was held in the library and most of the people in the audience were parents of MVMS students. Principal Huxley started by assuring everyone that the school was doing very well in many areas such as standardized test scores, GPAs, and staff development.
He also talked about how the school had cut down referrals by a large margin and had reduced bullying. Principal Huxley then went on to describe a few things about the school that they what to improve. These include supporting struggling students, as well as improving the special education program.
Vice Principal Lazzarini described her job and pointed out that student discipline was one of her primary responsibilities. Through her new system of tardy discipline she has cut back on tardies. She pointed out that this gives students more time to learn. She also noted that student suspensions have been reduced from 30 to 25 this year.
Both Mr. Huxley and Ms. Lazzarini talked about the importance of having a safe and secure school environment.  The audience seemed very pleased by the presentation and the state of the school.
